With LG and Google teaming up again to introduce the new Nexus phone, people are excitedly anticipating its arrival. You can understand the excitement of people because LG was the developer that brought them one of the most loved Android phones ever, the original Nexus 5. The LG Nexus 5X is expected to be released in late October  and was announced one month earlier. The 5X is a sequel to the previous Nexus 5, as the Nexus 5 had received excellent reviews and a sequel to the phone was inevitable. The phone is already available for pre-order in many countries and will cost about $380 (£339) for the 16 GB model and US$430 (£380) for the 32 GB version. For those of you who are in a dilemma on what kind of phone it is and whether to buy it or not, here are facts and features about the Nexus 5X.

Display, design and build quality

The Nexus 5X has a display of 5.2 inches and the look and feel is a lot similar to it’s predecessor, the Nexus 5. It features a velvet polycarbonate body and feels almost as same as the Nexus 5. There is no surprise they retained this feature because is was a very loved and popular one. The Nexus 5X is a bit taller than the Nexus 5 and a bit thinner. It is also more rounded in the corners as opposed to the sharper corners of it’s predecessor. The Nexus 5X also provides more grip on its rear. The screen is made up of Gorilla Glass 3.

The Nexus 5X employs a Full-HD resolution display. This is perfectly fine on a 5.2-inch screen with 423 pixels per inch. The Nexus 5X is bright, with little colour-bias, and the viewing angles are excellent.

Software and platform

The nexus 5X is the first smartphone to feature the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest and most advanced software for android devices. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 1.8 GHz hexa-core 64-bit, Adreno 418 GPU. This phone features the same amount of RAM as its predecessor and many may question why it was not increased, but looking at the speed and performance of the Nexus 5, an upgrade was really not required in this criteria. It has an advanced CPU than the previous phone so it will be better in performance and speed.

Camera and speakers

This phone features an impressive 12.3 MP camera with laser auto focus and dual-LED flash. The camera in this phone has larger pixels (1.55 microns), meaning they capture more light. Thus, they produce better pictures in low-light conditions. It can record videos at 2160p quality. On the front, you have a 5 MP camera which is impressive as well.

This phone has a front facing single audio speaker and also feature 3.5 mm jack for headphones.

Battery and memory

As the Nexus 5 received poor reviews for battery life, you would expect improvement in the field. Well the Nexus 5X arrives with a 2700 mAh battery which is a slight improvement over the previous 2300 mAh battery, but it still falls behind on some other devices in the battery life aspect. The standby and talk time are still to be tested so there is no certainty on how the phone will perform in terms of battery efficiency. However, Google has stated that the Marshmallow OS will represent a big breakthrough so far in terms of battery efficiency but is it true or not? we will see.

The Nexus 5X is available with either 16 or 32 GB internal memory and 2 GB RAM. There is no card slot so there is no option of expansion of memory.
