We are not sure if HTC is following Samsung or Apple! Just like Apple’s iPhone naming scheme, HTC has outed two phones with very similar naming scheme in just a week: HTC One M8s and HTC One M9 Plus. Here, we will be talking about the M9 Plus. At the moment, we are not sure if the phone will come to the United States or not. It has gone official only in China.
HTC One M9 Plus is very similar to HTC One M9 with only a few notable changes. The first difference that most of us are going to notice is the bigger and higher resolution 5.2″ Quad-HD Display. Also, unlike the regular HTC One M9, the M9 Plus houses a finger-print scanner at the front which can also be used for making mobile payments.
On the back side of the phone, there are also a few changes. The one you will immediately notice is the return of secondary depth sensing camera that sits above the 20MP Toshiba made BSI sensor. Under the hood, there are some changes as well. HTC has opted in for MediaTek Octa-Core processor instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 CPU. How the CPU will perform compared to Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is yet to be seen.
The battery of the HTC One M9 Plus is also bigger but only marginally. In fact, we think that the battery is insufficient to power 5.2″ Quad-HD display and such powerful internals. After all, the Plus variant only gets 40mAh battery more than the M9.

The key features of HTC One M9 Plus are as follows:
- 5.2″ Quad HD (1440 X 2560) Display
- MediaTek MT6795T Octa-Core Processor clocked @ 2.2GHz
- 3GB RAM
- 32GB Internal Storage with Micro-SD Card Expansion
- 20MP Toshiba Camera with Dual-Tone LED Flash
- Secondary Depth Sensing Camera
- 4MP Front-Facing Ultra-Pixel Camera

Though the front of the phone houses a finger-print scanner, HTC was able to implement their signature front-facing Boom-Sound speakers. They sound just as good as HTC One M9 if not better.
